Tim Hetherington, 'Award winning Journalist' Dies In Misratah - 20th Apr 2011

Award-winning British photographer and filmmaker Tim Hetherington has been killed in Libya.

The Oscar-nominated photojournalist is reported to have been killed by mortar fire in the city of Misratah.

He had been covering fighting between Colonel Muammar Gaddafi's forces and Libyan rebels.

He was killed in the only opposition-held city in western Libya, which has come under weeks of relentless shelling by government troops.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are offering consular assistance to the family."

Mr Hetherington, who is reported to have recently married, wrote on his Twitter profile last night, saying: "In besieged Libyan city of Misrata. Indiscriminate shelling by Qaddafi forces. No sign of Nato." Read More
