Which is apparently why he heads to the golf course - because security reasons mean he cannot just go for a walk around the park.
The President made the revelation as he lifted the lid on life inside the White House, and admitted he misses his personal privacy.
The president said he would love to roll out of bed on a Saturday, not shave and drive to the supermarket without being followed by hordes of photographers
Obama made the comments during an interview with editors and publishers from Hearst Magazine.
But said it was his personal privacy he missed the most.
He said: 'I just miss - I miss being anonymous.
'I miss Saturday morning, rolling out of bed, not shaving, getting into my car with my girls, driving to the supermarket, squeezing the fruit, getting my car washed, taking walks. I can't take a walk.'
Defending his love for golf, the president said it was the only excuse he had to get outside for four hours, and said he would love to stroll round Central Park in New York and people watch.
