France will send military liaison officers to Libya to support opposition rebels that are locked in a conflict with Muammar Gaddafi's army, government spokesman Francois Baroin said on Wednesday. "There will be a small number of liaison officers (placed) with the national transition council in order to organise the protection of the civilian population," Baroin told a news briefing, stressing that there was still no intention of sending foreign troops into the North African country.
