Fact or Fiction - 'Monster' plagues Karoo town, South Arifca - 22nd Apr 2011

Steytlerville - Steytlerville, a small Karoo town, is being plagued by rumours of a shape-shifting monster, Eastern Cape police said on Thursday.

"The community says that the monster changes shape while you are looking at it," Warrant Officer Zandisile Nelani said.

He said one man had reported it changed from a man wearing a suit into a pig and then into a bat. The creature had been sighted on a number of occasions near a church and only appeared at night, Nelani said.

Local residents met with police last week to discuss the strange phenomenon.

Nelani said he had asked people to take a photograph of the alleged monster. Although some locals were frightened of it, it had not harmed any people or livestock. Source

Update: 25th Apr 2011 - Johannesburg - A ‘monster’ plaguing the sleepy Karoo town of Steytlerville struck again over the Easter weekend, Eastern Cape police said on Monday.

Another two sightings of the "shape-shifting creature" were reported on Sunday evening, said Warrant Officer Zandisile Nelani .

“Two men were walking near a tavern when they saw another man wearing a black jacket. One of the men, identified only as Nozipho, went up to the stranger and asked him, “What is your problem?” said Nelani.

When the stranger did not respond, Nozipho went closer and saw that the man had no head. The man then turned into a dog that was “very angry” and “as big as a cow”, Nelani said.

He said that as Nozipho and his friend ran away, the monster allegedly turned on another group of people in the same road. “They said it turned into a big monkey, and then it was gone,” Nelani said.

He said that since the monster was spotted near the tavern, people were afraid to go there at night.

Last week police were told by residents that the monster changed shape while one looked at it. One man had reported that it changed from a man wearing a suit into a pig and then into a bat.

There had also been rumours that the monster could fly. Previously, the monster had only been spotted near the church. It had even been seen peering through the windows during a service, but had vanished by the time the congregation came outside.

Nelani said that the community had dubbed the monster “Bawokozi”, meaning ‘brother-in-law’.

Sightings of the monster began over a month ago when it was seen by mourners attending two separate funerals, Nelani said.

He said that the community requested a meeting with police because they were frightened of it. Police agreed to work with residents, but asked them to try to take a photograph of it as evidence.

Nelani said that a photograph had since been taken of the monster resting under a tree.

He said that when the photo was taken the monster had been in human form but when the photo was developed an unknown animal was visible in the picture. Read More

Japan debt rating threat may hasten tax hike push, which could further cripple the economy

The threat of a cut to Japan's credit rating adds pressure on Prime Minister Naoto Kan to raise taxes as he wrestles with financing quake rebuilding without adding to the world's biggest public debt burden.

Standard & Poor's lowered its outlook Wednesday to "negative" on Japan's AA- local currency rating, estimating that costs stemming from the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis may boost budget deficits by 3.7 percent of gross domestic product through 2013.

Higher taxes may undermine consumer confidence already hammered by the disaster, with March retail sales sliding the most in 13 years and analysts forecasting that the world's third-biggest economy will shrink this quarter. A group of lawmakers and former Cabinet ministers highlighted that danger Wednesday, calling on the Bank of Japan to support the recovery by buying more government bonds.

"Tax increases are unavoidable," said Junko Nishioka, chief economist at RBS Securities Japan Ltd. in Tokyo. "As discussions on selling more bonds begin in earnest, we'll hear more calls for the Bank of Japan to ease policy further," she said. The bond market has shown little evidence of concern about Japan's deteriorating sovereign-debt quality. More than 90 percent of government debt is held by domestic investors, dominated by financial companies, which have provided a stable source of financing. (read more)

Fact or Fiction - Ancient Aliens "Aliens and the Third Reich" - 30th Apr 2011

For years there has been speculation that Nazi Germany had experimented with advanced alien technology and built flying machines; such as the Haunebu and the Die Glocke (The Bell); and rumors that some of this technology may have made its way to the United States and helped jump start the Apollo program.

Think HAARP is just conspiracy theory? Think again: They're quietly sitting on patents for devices they claim don't exist, and here's proof

We at the Coming Crisis only post two things: facts, and questions that need answering. Our readers know this, and it's something we'd never give up on for any reason.

When it comes to a touchy subject like HAARP then, many would wonder why we'd even give a passing thought to a clearly scientific device that poses no threat whatsoever. Right?

Well, the public face may say one thing, but facts often lead to other questions, if not other conclusions, so let's take a moment to look at some real, filed patents that mysteriously correlate with "conspiracies" they say are laughable. Laugh at this then, folks:

#1: HAARP

They say:
HAARP is a scientific instrument used for an Ionospheric research program. Does nothing but passively tap the fields and measure.
Others say: HAARP is a wave-based scalar weapon that can manipulate weather and geologic activity, among other things.
The patent says: "Method and apparatus for altering a region in the Earth's atmosphere, ionosphere, and / or magnetosphere." View US Patent #4,686,605 here.
Bonus: The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) found HAARP so strange that they conducted their own investigation which lead to the fact that the facility could, in fact, be used for purposes other than those stated. Watch it in two parts here:

#2: Space-based weather alteration devices / weapons

They say:
They don't exist.
Others say: They don't only exist, but may actually be weaponized.
The patent says: "Use of artificial satellites in Earth's orbit adaptively to modify the effect that solar radiation would otherwise have on Earth's weather." View US Patent #5,762,298 here.
Bonus: China routinely files quiet news reports of its mastery of weather, and China's technology is probably several decades behind that of America's. Just do a Google search of China's weather-manipulating activities for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, as well as how the country combated its recent massive droughts, and you'll see what we mean. So, what's the US up to these days in this field?

#2: Chemtrails and aerial spraying, aerosols

They say:
They're just contrails, seen more frequently now due to a warming world.
Others say: They're spraying in grid-like patterns materials of a highly toxic nature for reasons unknown.
The patent(s) says: "Think of a way to spray something in the atmosphere, and we got 'ya covered, boys." View a massive list over 125 aerial spraying-related US Patents here.
Bonus: Some savvy independent onlookers tested the atmosphere and found heavy metal aerosol deposits. Controversial, so we wont weigh that as evidence. But when weather radar systems go haywire due to a massive aluminium spraying in the atmosphere, it at least begs the question -- what else are they spraying, and why? Video below:

This, ladies and gentlemen, is why the Coming Crisis asks questions. And so should all of you.

Fact or Fiction: Near-death Boy Says He Has Been to Heaven, Where Everyone Has Wings

Todd and Sonja Burpo may have believed an angel was looking over their 4-year-old son, who survived a life-threatening burst appendix.

Colton Burpo, now 11, says it's true.

"A few angels, they came, picked me up and I was looking right at Jesus," Colton, from the small town of Imperial, Neb., tells "Today."

After 17 days in the hospital, the boy started to talk about things he could not have known about, "Today" reports, including a miscarriage suffered by his mother, prayers his father made during Colton's surgery and meeting "Pop," his great-grandfather.

"I was just sitting by the Holy Spirit, and then this guy comes up to me and says, 'are you Todd's son?' I said yes. He says, 'Well, I'm his grandfather," Colton tells "Today." "... Pop, he was very big, huge wings, he had curly hair, big smile and he was really nice."

The experience led Todd Burpo, a pastor, to write the New York Times best-selling nonfiction book "Heaven is for Real."

"He could tell me where I was while he was in surgery," Todd Burpo tells "Today." "The surgeons couldn't tell me that. The nurses couldn't. My wife couldn't tell me where I was praying but he could tell me."

Sonja Burpo says her son told her angels sang to him.

"There's a lot of colors, there are a lot of people and a lot of animals," Colton says, describing Heaven.

He also says everyone in Heaven has wings -- his were a bit smaller than other's, and that no one there is old. (read more)

Fact or Fiction - Footsteps when no one is there, the ghostly laughter of children… Is America’s oldest house haunted? - 14th Apr 2011

It's the oldest timber frame house in America, lived in for generations by the same family and lovingly kept just as it was in its early Colonial days.

But what the Fairbanks House lacks in modern facilities it seems to make for with ... strange spirits.

The house in Dedham, Massachusetts, was built between 1637 and 1641 by English settlers Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks.

Today the house is a museum, but it could very well one of the most haunted houses in America.

Justin Schlesinger, one of the museum directors whose ancestors built the property, said: 'There’s always been weird things happening in the house, from the doorbell going off a million times to flashlights never working.'

He added that there are sometimes footsteps heard on the stairs when no one is there. Also, a newly-installed alarm system went off every night for several weeks with the alarm company unable to offer an explanation.

If there are such things as ghosts, he said, 'this would be the logical place for them to be.'

For decades now, throngs of visitors from all over the world, from school children to distinguished architects, have toured the house, entranced by its authenticity. Read More

Fact or Fiction: Jesus crucifixion nails 'found'?

Two of the nails used to crucify Jesus have been discovered in a 2,000-year-old tomb, according to a new film.

The film, 'The Nails of the Cross' by Simcha Jacobovici, follows three years of research during which he presents his assertions - some based on empirical data, others requiring much imagination and a leap of faith.

He hails the find as historic, but most experts and scholars dismissed his case as far-fetched, some calling it a publicity stunt.

Many ancient relics, including other nails supposedly traced back to the crucifixion, have been presented over the centuries as having a connection to Jesus. Many were deemed phony, while others were embraced as holy.

Mr Jacobovici, who sparked debate with a previous film that claimed to reveal the lost tomb of Jesus, says this find differs from others because of its historical and archaeological context.

"What we are bringing to the world is the best archaeological argument ever made that two of the nails from the crucifixion of Jesus have been found," he said. (read more)
