I told police who Night Stalker was SEVEN YEARS ago - but they still didn't arrest him, claims friend - 28th Mar 2011

The police had all the details they needed to question Delroy Grant - nicknamed the Night Stalker - seven years ago according to a former friend who claims he contacted Crimestoppers in 2004.

The 53-year-old, who was handed a life sentence last week for robbing and raping hundreds of elderly victims, was not caught by police until 2009 after a series of missed opportunities.

And Ken Buttrick has said that he contacted the authorities in 2004 after seeing an E-fit image which looked like Grant on a televised appeal - and handed the police his former work colleague's name and address.

But still the police did not question Grant and Mr Buttrick believes the rapist went on to attack dozens - if not hundreds - of more victims.

'I gave his name and address - all his details,' the 49-year-old told the Sun. 'He probably attacked hundreds more people after I made that call.'

When Grant, from Brockley in South East London, was eventually arrested two years ago, police interviewed Mr Buttrick - and his old work mate was sentenced to a life behind bars last Friday. Read More
