The 53-year-old, who was handed a life sentence last week for robbing and raping hundreds of elderly victims, was not caught by police until 2009 after a series of missed opportunities.
And Ken Buttrick has said that he contacted the authorities in 2004 after seeing an E-fit image which looked like Grant on a televised appeal - and handed the police his former work colleague's name and address.
But still the police did not question Grant and Mr Buttrick believes the rapist went on to attack dozens - if not hundreds - of more victims.
'I gave his name and address - all his details,' the 49-year-old told the Sun. 'He probably attacked hundreds more people after I made that call.'
